About the photograph:

While waiting for a water taxi at Fire Island in New York, my wife and I were taken by surprised by the gigantic, scary clouds that were coming our way.
We were alone at a pier, far from people and any means of communication. We had a seagull as a company and the hope the water taxi would be on time for its next pick up.
The clouds moved fast and seemed hungry searching for something. The beautiful beach day changed to an end-of-the-world scene. And it was my birthday.
A hint of the Sun scaped through the clouds while the wind almost took our belongings away. The seagull was struggling to stay in place as well, and the waves were splashing strongly into the pier.
We watched the hungry clouds growing more and more, moving from left to right. Among many thoughts in my head, one stood out: “God… nature is amazingly powerful.”
Even now, it gives me chills.
