Nem Cá Nem Lá (Not Here Nor There) is a raw expression of the displacement of the self while navigating through two "worlds" with different languages and cultures, and longing for their cultural roots by revisiting memories. Torn pages, irregularity, imperfection, and chaos depict the constant conflict and anguish that exists while leaving in both “worlds,” one in English and the other in Portuguese. This book is an exploration of my personal experience and the “saudade” (strong longing for something or someone) for simple, yet special, things from Brazil that cannot, and should not, ever be replaced.
